"Stiffy Cord Stitch Cap"

Yarn used: Medium 4 weight yarn
Yarn 1 – 50/50 acrylic & cotton (Baby bee Hushabye Solid boo pink)

Yarn 2 – 100% Cotton (Ilove this cotton, turquoise)
Crochet Hook: Size F & G

Hat’s circle diameter – 6.75”
Hat’s size – 22”(without Stretching)

Abbreviations used:

Ch - Chain
St/s – Stitch/es
SC – Single Crochet

HDC – Half Double Crochet
Sl St – Slip Stitch
Dec SC – Decrease Single Crochet

Hat’s Circle


Begin: With Yarn 1 & G Hook, Slip knot then Chain 4 & Slip st to 4th Chain from hook to form a ring & pull it tight.

Notes: From round 1 to 9, Join with slip stitch to first HDC & pull it tight.

( ) –repeat pattern inside it only.


Round 1: Ch 1 loosely, 9HDC in ring. =9HDC

Round 2: Ch 1 loosely, 2HDC in same stitch & in each st around. =18HDC

Round 3: Ch 1 loosely, HDC in same st, 2HDC in next 1 st, 

(HDC in next 1 st, 2HDC in next) ←Repeat around. =27HDC

Round 4: Ch 1 loosely, HDC in same st & in next 1 st, 2 HDC in next 1 st,

(HDC in next 2 sts, 2HDC in next) ←Repeat around. =36HDC

Round 5: Ch 1 loosely, HDC in same st & in next 2 sts, 2 HDC in next 1 st,
(HDC in next 3 sts, 2HDC in next) ←Repeat around. =45HDC

Round 6: Ch 1 loosely, HDC in same st & in next 1 st, 2 HDC in next 1,
(HDC in next 4 sts, 2 HDC in next 1 st)←Repeat around until last 2 sts. HDC in last 2 sts. =54HDC

Round 7: Ch 1 loosely, HDC in same st & in next 4 sts, 2 HDC in next 1 st,
(HDC in next 5 sts, 2HDC in next) ←Repeat around. =63HDC

Round 8: Ch 1 loosely, HDC in same st & in next 5 sts, 2 HDC in next 1 st,
(HDC in next 6 sts, 2HDC in next) ←Repeat around. =72HDC

Round 9: Ch 1 loosely, HDC in same st & in next 2 sts, 2 HDC in next 1,
(HDC in next 7 sts, 2 HDC in next 1 st)←Repeat around until last 4 sts. HDC in last 4 sts. =81HDC

Round 10: Ch 1, SC in same st and in each stitch around. Join with sl st to first SC & pull it tight.
= 81SC

Circle Diameter is 6.75"

Round 11: Ch 1 loosely, HDC in same st & in each st around. Join with slip stitch to first HDC & pull it tight.=81HDC

SC CORD STITCH GUIDE:



Work the same way of single crochet but when you insert the hook, the yarn from skein should be facing you or infront of the hook.

Round 12: Ch 1, SC Cord stitch in same St & in each stitch around. Join with slip stitch to first Stitch & pull it tight. =81Sts

ROUND 13 to 17: Repeat Round 12, Change to yarn 2 at the last St of Round 17.

TO CHANGE YARN COLOR:


This is the last Sc cord stitch(unfinish) of round 17.


Slip knot with yarn 2, hook it & pull through to complete the last SC cord Stitch

Round 18: With yarn 2, SC cord stitch in same st & in each st around. Change to Yarn 1 at the last stitch. Join with sl st to first st & pull it tight. =81 Sts

Round 19: With yarn 1, SC cord stitch in same st & in each st around. Change to Yarn 2 at the last stitch. Join with sl st to first st & pull it tight. =81 Sts

ROUND 20 to 22: Repeat round 18 & 19 alternately.

Round 23: With yarn 1, SC cord stitch in same st & in each st around. Join with sl st to first st & pull it tight. =81 Sts

Round 24: Back to round 22, Insert hook to first st & pull up yarn 2 to front. Then Slip st in each stitch around. Join with slip to first slip, Slip st in next sl st & finish off yarn 2.

BRIM

DECREASE SC GUIDE: In space indicated - (Insert hook in next st & pull up a loop) twice. Yarn over & pull through all 3 loops on hook.

With F hook & two strands of yarn, Slip knot & leave it on hook.

Row 1: Work in two front loops, SC to 28th stitch from joined, SC in next 2 sts,
Repeat 6 times→(2SC in next 1 st, SC in next 3 sts). =33SC

Row 2 : Ch 1 &turn, Decrease SC in first 2 sts, SC in next 7 sts, 2SC in next 1 st, SC in next 13 sts, 2SC in next 1 st, SC in next 7 Sts, Dec SC in last 2 sts. =33sts

Row 3: Ch 1 & turn, Dec SC in first 2 sts, SC across until last 2 sts, DEC SC in last 2 Sts. =31Sts

Row 4: Ch 1 &turn, Decrease SC in first 2 sts, SC in next 4 sts, 2SC in next 1 st, SC in next 17 sts, 2SC in next 1 st, SC in next 4 Sts, Dec SC in last 2 sts. =31sts

Row 5: Ch 1 &turn, Decrease SC in first 2 sts, SC in next 7 sts, 2SC in next 1 st, SC in next 11 sts, 2SC in next 1 st, SC in next 7 Sts, Dec SC in last 2 sts. =31sts

Row 6: Ch 1 & turn, Dec SC in first 2 sts, SC across until last 2 sts, DEC SC in last 2 Sts. =29Sts

Row 7: Ch 1 &turn, Decrease SC in first 2 sts, SC in next 4 sts, 2SC in next 1 st, SC in next 15 sts, 2SC in next 1 st, SC in next 4 Sts, Dec SC in last 2 sts. =29sts

Row 8: Ch 1 &turn, Decrease SC in first 2 sts, SC in next 12 sts, 2SC in next 1 st, SC in next 12 sts, Dec SC in last 2 sts. =28sts

Row 9: Ch 1 &turn, Decrease SC in first 2 sts, SC in next 7 sts, 2SC in next 1 st, SC in next 8 sts, 2SC in next 1 st, SC in next 7 Sts, Dec SC in last 2 sts. =28sts

EDGING:

DECREASE SC CORD ST GUIDE: In space indicated - (Insert hook in next st & pull up a loop) twice. Yarn over & pull through all 3 loops on hook.

ROUND 1: Back to the end of round 23: WIth G Hook, Ch 1, SC cord stitch in same st, SC cord stitch across until 2 sts before the base of the brim & Decrease SC cord stitch in next 2 sts. SC Cord st in each 9 rows & in each stitches in row 9, SC Cord st each in next 9 rows. Decrease SC cord stitch in next 2 sts. And SC cord st to all remaining sts across. Join with slip st to first st & pull it ight.

ROUND 2: Slip stitch in each st around including the brim. Join with slip st to first Sl st & Finish off.

ROUND 3: (optional) - Back to Round 23, With yarn 1, slip knot, work slip stitch in each st around. Join with slip st to first Sl st & Finish off. Hide ends. DONE!!!
